Deadpool without the mask Wade Wilson bust
/in Uncategorized /by Resin HeroesSean’s made a bit of progress on his Deadpool without the mask aka Wade Wilson head. We’ve made a resin cast of it which turned out great and here you can see it on our Deadpool body. We’re planning on making the head for 12″ figures for sale as well as a bust of this version as well.

Custom Mego-sized Doc Savage figure
/in Uncategorized /by Resin HeroesTim’s been working on this custom Doc Savage figure for a while now and finished it up this week. The figure has a Mego body, a head started off as a Superman scale resin cast Tim found online that he customized to give it a classic Doc look. The pants are scratch created by Tim and hand sewn.
Robin the Boy Wonder custom action figure by Tim
/in Uncategorized /by Resin HeroesTim had some time off over the Christmas break and put together a figure of Robin the Boy Wonder from the 1966 Batman TV series. The head is our Boy Wonder sculpt by Sean and the costume is bespoke by Tim. You can also see some of Tim’s other creations in this photo; there’s Dick Grayson on the left and a leaning Bruce Wayne on the right.

Batman 1989 life-sized resin cast
/in Uncategorized /by Resin HeroesA few months ago Bert picked up a life-sized resin cast of Michael Keaton in his Batman costume from 1989 on eBay. The cast was really rough Bert asked Tim if he could clean it up so that I could paint it. Bert’s plan was to spray paint the cast bronze so that it would look like a metal statue. Well, apparently that wasn’t good enough for Tim and Sean, so this Christmas they surprised Bert with the bust not only cleaned up but also fully painted AND they bought a mannequin body and cut it down so that the bust would have a stable base to sit on AND ALSO bought material and added a cape too.
The bust is super-cool, life-like and a bit scary but in a good ,”I hope it keeps the burglars away” kind’a way!
New casting process
/in Uncategorized /by Resin HeroesWe’ve begun casting our resin items a bit differently lately. Our process has always been that we degas the resin in a vacuum degasser then pour into our molds. But now once the resin is in the mold we’re placing them into a pressure pot and pressure casting them at 50PSI until the resin fully cures. So far the results have been amazing. Casts that used to have a few air bubbles (imperfections) here and there before now have nearly no blemishes. And what before would have taken us a lot of time to correct before shipping to our customers, because we only ship out items that we’d like to receive ourselves, now takes just a few minutes to clean and box up.
Now if only we could make our air compressor quieter since the neighbors are starting to complain! 😉
