Robert M. recently purchased one of our Calvin and Hobbes resin kits and did one of the best jobs we’ve seen so far of assembly and painting.

Robert says:

I’ve been building models for many years and worked for my uncle in the auto body business for some time as well. I think that has something to do with my skills. Believe it or not I hand painted both of them. The color for Calvin’s sneakers took me three tries before the color was right. Now with Hobbes I didn’t prime his white fur. That’s the color of the resin, I think it gives it that look of real fur.

Here’s from prep to finish

Prep-
I let the kit parts sit in a container full of water a Dawn dish soap for a day. Then I rinsed and used an old toothbrush to scrub them. I let the parts dry and then cleaned them up by sanding and then repeated this and then let dry.

Paint-
Floquil railroad colors – primer, flesh, reefer white, reefer orange, rail box yellow and engine black.

Nicole’s craft paint – red, light pink, violet pansy.

Prismacolor fine line maker 01 black for the eyes and brow.

I think you’ll agree with us in congratulating Robert on what a great job he did.
